Caldwell addressed school officials, who are considering privatizing custodial services, citing previous privatization of school food service and facilities management that sent contracts to the ARAMARK Corporation, which lead to complaints about poor performance and the eventual dismissal of ARAMARK, the story stated.
The custodian arrived at the meeting with a dozen of her fellow American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 4 Local 287 union members and was told by New Haven Public Schools Board of Education Chief Operating Officer Will Clark that the ARAMARK comparison was not valid, the story noted.
