NAPLES, FL — Some of Barron Collier High School''s band instruments have been heard for the last time, according to WBBH-TV.
Forty-three broken band instruments were deemed surplus instruments and were set aside either for repair, scrap or to use as examples for elementary school children, the article stated.
According to the article, the instruments instead ended up behind a dumpster.
"I don''t think that we should ever throw out a taxpayer dollar," said concerned taxpayer Deana Bess.
In an e-mail response, administrator Gary Brown explained that "some of the custodians made a mistake and put some of these instruments in the dumpster."
Not satisfied, Bess and others have been pushing the district for more information about who supposedly gave the order to trash the instruments, the article noted.
