CLARKSVILLE, TN — Aside from maintaining a healthy learning environment for students, Barkers Mill Elementary School custodian Lourdes Delis Baez channels her inner child several times a year to decorate the building, according to the Leaf and Chronicle.
Baez, a native of Panama who received her U.S. citizenship last year, creates season-specific motifs that inspire students and give all building occupants something nice to look at, the story stated.
Baez said, "I cannot stay here too long in the morning, because when they say, ''Mrs. Baez, that''s so pretty!'' it makes me cry."
Baez knows that her first job is to clean, which is why she stays late or even comes in on weekends to work on her decorations — but only after a safe and healthy school is achieved, the story noted.
