DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — The Douglas County Courthouse has been awarded as Government Building of the Year by the Atlanta chapter of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), according to the Times-Georgian.
According to the story, the courthouse was also the first to receive ENERGY STAR certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Facilities Manager Mark Price has been working towards this award for a long time.
Price said: "I''ve wanted to enter the courthouse in competition since I came here nine years ago, but the time didn''t seem right until this year. We just made it happen. It was a lot of work for my staff and me, but it was worth it."
In addition to extensive maintenance and cleaning, Price also developed and presented building emergency procedures and demonstrated its commitment to the community, the story stated.
