The first class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009, and the second from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Blue Harbor Resort and Conference Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the story stated.
According to the article, the eight-hour courses will also provide eight continuing education credits (CEC) that can be applied toward your Dwelling Contractor Certification for a fee of $245 for members of the SCHBA and $275 for non-members.
Under a new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rule that goes into effect April 22, 2010, contractors performing renovations, repair and painting projects that disturb lead paint in facilities built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination, the story noted.
The courses, which will be taught by Milwaukee Lead/Asbestos Information Center Inc., will include proper lead-safe setup, work practices and cleaning methods on renovation jobs, the story added.
