BURLINGTON, WA — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has approved the proposal to combine the Water Restoration Technician (WRT) course and Applied Structural Drying (ASD) courses into a single five-day course, according to a press release.
Normally, the WRT is a three-day class, including a half-day examination, and the ASD course requires four days to complete; Dri-Eaz developed the five-day course in order to provide the broadest range of training options possible, the release stated.
Brendan Kimmel, education associate at the Restoration Sciences Academy campus at Dri-Eaz Products, said: "Considering the downtime and travel costs, getting fully certified in both WRT and ASD was an expensive process. It could mean two weeks of lost work for most participants, plus the expense of two separate trips. Most of our students find it hard to get away from their businesses that long."
Participants can now complete both certification classes and get back home in one week while saving the cost of an extra trip, the release noted.
More information about the combined WRT-ASD course is available by calling Dri-Eaz Education at 800-932-3030 and by visiting, the release added.
