According to the release, CleanPower, the state''s largest cleaning contractor, was also the first in the United States to earn the Green Seal Environmental Standard for Cleaning Services (GS 42) in 2007.
Barbara Whitstone, senior vice president at CleanPower, said that certification is vitally important in the industry as it defines an environmentally responsible cleaning service, and that the company has seen an increase in customer demand for green cleaning solutions, the release stated.
The CIMS-GB standard is awarded by ISSA and was created to establish a universally accepted standard of a well-managed, successful cleaning operation with a proven commitment to sustainability, the release noted.
CleanPower was also one of the first companies to use products and processes certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI), the release added.
