ROLLA, MO — Four employees at Forum Cleaners were hospitalized after becoming sick from unknown fumes requiring a hazardous materials response, according to The Rolla Daily News.

According to the story, the Rolla Fire and Rescue Department (RFRD) is still not sure of the source of the fumes, but says it may have been a combination of cleaning chemicals.

Two of the four hospitalized employees have been released after being decontaminated and treated for respiratory problems and nausea, the story stated.

RFRD Chief Robert Williams said that the department is looking into five specific cleaning chemicals and testing combinations to determine the cause of the fumes, and a cleaning process investigation with both the current and former owners did not reveal anything unusual, the story noted.

Both owners say they have not experienced a problem like this in the over 20 years the business has been open, the story added.
