ALBUQUERQUE, NM — An employee with Rio Rancho Cleaning LLC tipped off her brother-in-law burglar via text message to notify him that a house she just cleaned was ripe for robbing, according to KOAT-TV.
After the worker told Roy Madrid where the key to the house was located, he came in and allegedly cleaned out the homeowner''s jewelry box, making off with thousands of dollars in bootie that included family heirlooms and other treasured pieces, the story stated.
Jeanneth Lopez of Rio Rancho Cleaning said she gave the cleaner a job after meeting her at church, something she now considers a regrettable mistake, the story noted.
Lopez, who learned that other burglaries had occurred in houses her company had recently cleaned, cooperated with the Albuquerque Police Department''s investigation before one of her employees admitted being involved, the story added.
Lopez said: "We heard from the lady of the house that it happened after we had been in there. I''m sorry. I let them down and if there is anyway I can make it up to them ... I am terribly sorry."
According to the story, many of the goods allegedly stolen by Madrid have been returned to their rightful owners.
