TORRINGTON, CT — City Council members have voted to deny a grievance filed on behalf of a city hall janitor caught sleeping on the job, according to the Register Citizen.

After the council''s grievance subcommittee met behind closed doors Wednesday, they presented their final decision to the full council during a regular meeting later that night, the article stated.

According to the article, Public Works Director Jerry Rollet caught janitor Phil Dubourg asleep in a room used by the maintenance staff.

"There have been other incidents where this sort of behavior has happened and when it was grieved, the employees have won," said Personnel Director Thomas Gritt.

Dubourg was instead suspended for three days, or 12 hours, without pay, the article noted.
