SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — City leaders have decided not to renew their contract with Vocational Visions, the cleaning firm responsible for maintaining San Juan park restrooms, according to The Orange County Register.

Vocational Visions is a Mission Viejo-based non-profit that hires individuals with disabilities to perform janitorial services, the article stated.

According to the article, the city council voted to approve a three-year contract with Great Cleaning Service Inc., which underbid Vocational Visions by nearly $97,000.

"I think we all feel like bad people up here today, but we''re responsible to the citizens to spend money wisely," said Councilman Larry Kramer.

Ted Donoho of Vocational Visions doesn''t believe the new contractor will be able to match Vocational Visions'' performance at that price, citing the conditions of public restrooms that are often dirtied in the overnight hours, the article noted.

"It would make a billy goat puke," Donoho said, referring to the condition of some of the restrooms before cleaning.
