ARLINGTON, VA — The Chlorine Institute Inc. (CI), trade association for the chlor-alkali industry, has named Frank Reiner as incoming president, according to a press release.
According to the release, Reiner joined CI in 2005 and will succeed current President Arthur E. Dungan on June 14, allowing for a six-week transition period before Dungan''s July 31 retirement.
CI Chair David Garner of the Brenntag Group said: "Frank''s work history includes many years in various aspects of railroad tank car design, construction and maintenance. Since joining CI, he has led various teams that have developed recommendations to improve safe and secure shipment of CI mission chemical tank cars and have developed tools and training programs to deal with potential chlorine emergencies."
Reiner spent 16 years at the Union Tank Car Co., has a bachelor''s degree in civil engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and a master''s in management from
Purdue University and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the release stated. CI was founded in 1924 and its North American producer members account for more than 98 percent of the total chlorine production capacity of the
United States, Canada and Mexico, the release added.
