GREENVILLE, SC — Exposure to an unknown chemical at Aiken Chemical Company has sent 11 people to the hospital, according to The Greenville News.
The Pelham-Batesville fire department claims no chemical was spilled; the details, however, are still unknown and streets leading to the plant have been closed as a precaution, the story stated.
Hazmat crews have been testing the air quality in the plant and have installed a series of fans to circulate and clear the air, the story noted.
The victims had complaints of nausea, headaches and vomiting, and all but one are in stable condition, the story added.
According to the story, six individuals have been taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital and the other five to Spartanburg Regional Memorial Hospital.
