TONAWANDA, NY — A carpet cleaner was arrested for stealing a customer''s painkillers after cleaning her carpets, according to the Tonawanda News.
Geoffrey Roll, who, after cleaning the woman''s carpets, returned several times claiming to be looking for a brush he had lost inside the home, kept asking the homeowner to use her bathroom — the place she stored her prescription Oxycontin pills, the story stated.
When the homeowner went to take a pill for her back pain, she noticed the bottle missing and suspected Roll of the crime, the story noted.
Tonawanda Police Leiutenant Fred Foels said: "She got a little suspicious because he always asked to use the bathroom. When confronted with the facts, he confessed."
According to the story, Roll''s manager said Roll was just out of rehab for addiction to Oxycontin and had been fired after the homeowner''s complaint.
Roll, who surrendered on a warrant for petit larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, is being held until a court date is scheduled, the story added.
