NORTH HAMPTON, NH — North Hampton Public Library will be closed indefinitely as town officials attempt to figure out the extent of water damage in the facility, according to the North Hampton Patch.

The water damage was caused when a pipe in the kitchen of the building burst in the overnight hours, the article stated.

According to the article, there was little damage to the book collection, but nearly 85 percent of the flooring was completely soaked.

North Hampton Fire Chief Dennis Cote was unable to determine when the pipe burst, but said it was obvious the water had been running for a while due to the volume of water saturating the carpeting and padding in most of the building, the article noted.

Crews from ServPro are currently in the library working to remove all the water, and the town is in the process of getting insurance adjusters down to fully assess the damage, the article added.
