GASTONIA, NC — Only one day before classes start back at Ashbrook High School, the school is dealing with a dangerous health hazard, according to FOX News.
Black mold was found on the ceiling tiles in one of the halls, the article noted.
School officials acted quickly, calling the Gaston County Health Department and getting environmental remediation specialists to come out and disinfect the area, the article stated.
According to the article, the mold is said to have originated from the air conditioning units.
Health officials say this is pretty common for this time of year, with air conditioners off for most of the summer, then turned back on, combine that with the wet weather and the extreme heat, it''s a perfect combination for mold to start.
