EDMONTON, CANADA — 122 former and current employees of Bee Clean are now being paid $155,000 in overtime accumulated over the past two years for work at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, according to the CBC News.
Bee Clean turned over the checks for the provincial government to distribute to the workers: The company said the overtime was missed due to an administrative error and apologized to the workers last week, the article stated.
"It is important to note that we do take full accountability for this. This has never been something that was going to be tried to be swept under the rug," Bee Clean Regional Director Robert Scott said.
"We take it very seriously and we want to make sure our employees are fairly compensated for the work they do for us," Scott added.
According to Alberta Employment and Immigration minister, Thomas Lukaszuk, the checks are in amounts ranging from $2.50 to almost $7,000.
