The branch has also applied for the more widely recognized and stringent Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification offered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the story stated.
The bank, which sits on a site previously occupied by a restaurant, maximizes the use of green space with drought-resistant plants, utilizes recycled construction materials and has low volatile organic compound (VOC) emitting carpeting and paints, the story noted.
Windows were positioned to maximize daylighting and, as an added sustainable aspect, employees can adjust the intensity of the lighting at their individual workstations, the story added.
