PAWTUCKET, RI — Atlantic Paper & Twine Company, a supplier of packaging, shipping, janitorial, maintenance and safety products since 1948, received the 2010 Partner Award from the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association (RIMA), according to The New England Business Bulletin.
Each year, the RIMA "Partner of the Year" award is given to an organization who, through its mission statement and execution, supported the growth and improvement of the manufacturing sector in Rhode Island, the article noted.
For generations, Atlantic Paper, a family-owned business, has partnered with manufacturers to handle their procurement needs in an efficient, economical way, thereby contributing to the success of local manufacturing companies, most recently introducing an inventory control solution called "Atlantic Managed Inventory," the article stated.
According to the article, with this program, manufacturers define their inventory levels, Atlantic tracks the inventory weekly on-site and then replenishes it automatically as needed: In addition to contributing to lean initiatives, this program allows Atlantic customers to reduce procurement costs and eliminate waste in the supply chain.
"Receiving this award is humbling to say the least and the credit goes to each and every Atlantic team member," said David Spencer, company vice president and owner.
"Personally, I am in awe of companies that still make things. Every day it''s a privilege to serve the manufacturing community as a supplier and resource," Spencer added.
