BLOOMINGTON, IN — The Ashkin Group has released an urgent notice to thousands of subscribers to its DestinationGreen newsletter, according to a press release.

The e-blast calls on "friends, supporters, and allies to express support for the continued use of the U.S. Green Building Council''s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system by the U.S. General Service Administration (GSA)," the release stated.

According to the release, misinformation about the proposed changes to the LEED rating system, known as v4, has resulted in pressure on the GSA to possibly discontinue the use of the LEED rating system.

"This could prove economically detrimental to a great number of companies within the green building industry, including many in the JanSan industry who have invested heavily in green cleaning products and services," said Stephen Ashkin, president of The Ashkin Group.
