MORRILTON, AR — Asbestos that has been found in the rubble of a collapsed building has delayed the site cleanup, according to The Republic.
Owners of the building had agreed to clean up the pile of rubble, which consisted of bricks, wood, glass shards, roofing and vinyl, was slowed by a last minute dispute, the article stated.
According to the article, the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality ordered an asbestos inspection after learning about the pile.
The inspection proved positive on five of 16 samples and, as a result, the owners have been instructed to hire an asbestos removal company to remove the contaminated material, the article noted.
