The April issue of CM/Cleaning & Maintenance Management® magazine is now available online, featuring Rich Parillo''s Cost-effective cleaning strategies article.
Parillo states that the key considerations for a cleaning strategy are which is the most cost-effective, produces the best results and can be implemented the fastest.
He notes that the most popular cleaning strategies used in the United States today are: Zone Cleaning; Specialist, or Team Cleaning; and Day Cleaning.
Parillo adds that it would be somewhat foolish to adopt one cleaning strategy, assume it will be the most cost-efficient for a specific facility, and then expect the cost savings to multiply.
According to Parillo, ongoing supervision is required to make sure any system selected is working properly and efficiently, ultimately reducing the cost of cleaning.
Rich Parillo, formerly the director of environmental services at a large New York–area hospital, started and ran the janitorial division of OR&L, a large construction, real estate marketing and property management company.
