According to the story, the combination of passengers walking on the carpet without shoes in order to pass through security and the lack of time for thorough carpet cleaning have contributed to the odor problem.
Airport managers are developing plans to replace the majority of the carpeting in the building, the story stated.
Airport spokesperson Casandra Davis said: "They just want the carpeting changed."
According to the story, the security checkpoints open at 4:30 a.m. and often do not close until 1 a.m., leaving very little time for proper carpet cleaning.
