LONDON — One in 10 households in the United Kingdom held a party in honor of today''s royal nuptials, according to a press release.
Despite only 1,992 street party licenses being granted for royal wedding-related public celebrations, research has revealed that one in 10 households held their own parties in honor of the royal couple, the release stated.
After the celebrations comes the biggest country wide cleanup the nation has seen in decades, the release noted.
According the release, the royal wedding weekend will generate nearly 6 million bags of garbage, or 4,000 tons of trash.
