NORTH PLATTE, NE — The roof replacement on the new Lincoln County jail has raised questions about safety precautions, according to The North Platte Telegraph.

After six types of mold were discovered, it was determined the roof needed to be replaced, the article noted.

The current roof will be removed by Advanced Roofing Technologies from Windsor, CO, and be replaced with a Versico system, the article stated.

In accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, anything with mold on it will have to be placed in plastic bags and thrown away, the article added.

According to the article, workers will only be able to take off as much of the roof as they can replace the same day, to avoid a moisture leak into the building.
