SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA — After 20 years, Saul Gonzalez, Sr. is retiring, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
Gonzalez has the honor of being Santa Fe Elementary’s first and only head custodian since the school opened in 1981, the article stated.
According to the article, Gonzalez has always been more than a custodian and has enjoyed watching the students grow up and become adults.
"I''m happy because of my retirement, but sad because I''m going to miss the kids, the staff, the love they showed me," said Gonzalez.
"The years I''ve been here have been great. It''s been beautiful," Gonzalez added.
On June 22, Gonzalez was honored by staff, students, parents and other local dignitaries at an end-of-year ceremony, the article noted.
