Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, MI, recently added three new disinfection robots to its health care cleaning services.

The robots, currently being used in isolation and operating rooms in addition to the dialysis unit, were designed to assist cleaning staff in reducing the risk of health care-associated infections—or HAIs. Using a combination of ultraviolet light, the robots can destroy pathogens such as C. difficile, norovirus, influenza, Ebola, and bacteria, which can cause staphylococcus (staph) infections.

Currently, the Henry Ford Health System is the only health system in the United States to implement disinfection robots in all of its hospitals, members of the health care staff told MLIive.com.
