Process Cleaning for Healthy Schools® (PC4HS) Provides Allergen Testing to Improve School IAQ
Sparks NV − Thursday, March 20, 2014. Process Cleaning for Healthy Schools® (PC4HS), a 501c3 national nonprofit organization focused on schools helping schools, has announced its allergen testing services to enable improvements to school indoor air quality.
Utilizing the services of Indoor Biotechnologies (InBio) − an immunodiagnostics and biotechnology company specializing in allergy, asthma and indoor air quality − PC4HS Founder and President, Rex Morrison, recently took school dust samples and submitted them to InBio’s Charlottesville, VA facility for Multiplex Array for Indoor Allergens (MARIA®) analysis.
InBio’s MARIA is the state-of-the-art in allergen detection, enabling simultaneous detection of multiple allergens in a single test.
Initial MARIA® 8-plex testing detected the presence of rodent feces in school dust samples from carpet, prompting the major school district tested to initiate more aggressive Integrated Pest Management (IPM) prevention and remediation efforts.
“We are pleased to be working with InBio to help make school environments healthier through testing harmonized with Integrated Cleaning and Measurement (ICM) principles,” said Morrison. “Since asthma is a leading cause of school absenteeism, and airborne dust is a common trigger, measurement leading to dust reduction should help alleviate this problem.”
