Wednesday’s Question:ICANATEX Logo

What is the best way to clean a newly refinished hardwood floor?

The floor has been top-coated with a polyurethane finish.

It has now been curing for at least two weeks and is ready for some light cleaning.

Wednesday’s Answer:

Prevention is critical to proper cleaning and care.

Keep as much dry soil, grit and liquids as possible off the floor with entry matting and regular dust or dry mopping with a microfiber flat mop is needed.

When moist cleaning is needed, use a slightly damp microfiber flat mop.

Never use any more water/moisture than is absolutely needed.

If it's a small home area, use one of the commercial spray cleaners from the hardware store that's made for wood or laminate flooring.

Don't spray the floor ... Bill Griffin, president of Cleaning Consultant Services Inc.
