Wednesday’s Question:ICANATEX Logo

How many full-time employees (FTEs) would 1,260,787 cubic square feet require?

Wednesday’s Answer:

I'm not sure.

If your people can cover 3,000 square feet per hour each, an eight-hour shift will cover 24,000 square feet for each person. The math shows the total square feet area then requiring 52.5 workers to do the job.

Interesting question. The question specifically asks "cubic" square feet...which is not something I have ever considered. If the question is posed correctly, then the answer can't be determined since the height is a factor in cubic feet...and height wasn't disclosed. Assuming 10 feet in height (for offices), then 126,000 SQUARE feet would have to be cleaned. I agree that 3,000 feet per hour is a good rule of thumb. Thus, 42 man-hours or 5+ people working 8 hour days. Do, indeed, need to know what the "C" or "cubic" actually means. (Note also that FTE generally means Full Time Equivalent -- meaning that 2 people working 4 hours would be 1 FTE.)
