TOLEDO, OH — A resident at the Hidden Valley Estates apartment complex is asking for a refund of her security deposit and to opt out of her lease, according to WTOL-TV
Amberlyn Smith, who was recently released from the hospital due to excessive mold exposure, is still unable to return to her apartment because of toxic black mold that is still present, the story stated.
Though the apartment has been thoroughly cleaned, mold remains in nearly every corner, the story noted.
Smith told WTOL-TV: "I was scared to death they were testing me for a brain tumor." It turns out she did not have a tumor, but is "severely allergic to mold."
The owner of Hidden Valley Estates has agreed to return Smith her security deposit and will allow her to break her lease due to the severity of the mold problem, the story added.
