DETROIT — Hit hard by budget constraints, the Academy of the Americas sees no other choice but to ask students to bring in basic cleaning and maintenance supplies from home, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Light bulbs, trash bags, paper towels and toilet paper are items the school desperately needs, the story stated.
While many parents are happy to comply with the request and help provide necessary supplies to the school, others are angered by the appeal, the story noted.
Some argue that they are unable to provide such items in their own homes, let alone donate them to their children''s school, the story added.
