ASHEVILLE, NC — A mold problem at the Asheville City Hall has prompted a discussion to hire a contractor to combat the growing problem, according to the Mountain Xpress News.
The Building Group, a company that specializes in cleaning up hazardous materials, has been contacted to remove the mold in the ventilation system of the building, the story stated.
Council member Bill Russell said: "Mold is something to be concerned about. It seems to me like this is something we have to do for our employees."
The proposed remediation contract is for $119,013, the story noted.
The ventilation system in the aging City Hall building is long overdue for a cleaning; years of water leaks and contamination in the seventh and eighth floors have caused extensive contamination throughout the system, the story added.
