OMAHA, NE — A misclassification in the bookkeeping records has forced a cleaning company to pay more than $28,000 in back wages to its employees, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
G-2 Cleaning Services, by order of the U.S. Department of Labor, paid $28,249 to 41 of its janitorial workers, the story stated.
The company, operated out of a private home, had the janitors filed as contractors rather than direct employees, the story noted.
The employees were subject to federal rules that require G-2 Cleaning Services to pay them time-and-a-half for working more than 40 hours a week, the story added.
