RICHMOND, MI — The janitor and all-around handyman at the Michigan State Police Richmond post was recently named Michigan State''s 2008 Civilian of the Year, according to The Times Herald.
Terance Weber, janitor for the Richmond post since 2000, was chosen from a list of nominees from each of the state''s 64 posts, the story stated.
Weber said: "I was shocked. It made me feel good. I am always there for whatever they need. I like to make people happy. I care about people."
Along with statewide recognition, Weber received a commemorative plaque and a $500 bonus, the story noted.
Weber is the first Richmond post employee to ever receive the Floyd R. Bell Jr. Civilian of the Year Award since it was first given out in 1990, the story added.
