Friday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network
(ICAN) "Ask the Experts"
page: I am bidding on a 40,000-square-foot gym. It is to be done seven days a week and includes: Cleaning over 1,000 exercise machines, 10 bathroom stalls, nine shower stalls, two saunas, and a cafe. This includes dust mopping and wet mopping the floors and cleaning all mirrors and doors. We have two people three to four hours per day.
Assuming your question is, “Will this do it?” my answer is, “I can’t say for sure, but it doesn’t look very promising to me!”
If you spend 8 man-hours a day (2x4), your production rate is 5000 square feet per hour. (40,000/8) That may be possible, but I have no idea how long it takes to clean each machine.
If it is done each day and you spend just 1 minute per machine, your time will be 1,000 minutes which is equal to 16.6 hours, twice what you have allocated, with nothing else getting done. You can cut that down to eight hours by spending only a half a minute on each, but you will still need more time to do the rest.
