BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A woman who lost a diamond earring was fortunate enough to discover it after sifting through several vacuum cleaner bags, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The woman called the Buffalo Grove Police Department and reported the two-karat diamond earring missing Sunday after she lost it in the Buffalo Grove High School auditorium during an event the night before, the story stated.
Officers assisted the woman in searching the school for the missing earring but were unsuccessful in their endeavor, the story noted.
Buffalo Grove Police Commander Steve Husak said: "It is a pretty big diamond. It was two karats, so it''s nice. This is a public service job so we try to help people when we can."
Officers suggested she search the contents of the cleaning crew''s vacuum bags as they cleaned the auditorium shortly after attendees vacated the premises, the story added.
According to the story, the woman took all of the vacuum cleaner bags home with her, and after examining the contents of each bag, she found her missing earring.
