TORONTO, ON, Canada — The state-of-the-art fire and emergency services training facility at the Toronto Pearson International Airport recently received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the Silver level, according to Inhabitat.
The complex, built in 1999 for $13.5 million, includes a school, administration offices, apparatus and vehicle bays as well as three training structures, the story stated.
The complex was aesthetically designed to take full advantage of the views, natural daylight, solar and wind exposure and drainage, the story noted.
The training facility complex also incorporates a green roof that extends from the upper catwalk of the cafeteria to the ground and integrates the building with the natural landscape, the story added.
