Asbestos was found in the glue of the ceiling tiles in the school''s gymnasium, prompting a closure of the building''s main entrance, the story stated.
Head Custodian Earl Carter said: "We''re just going to make sure that nobody gets hurt by any of it, so we''re going to remove the tile and put up something different to make it more safe."
An abatement crew has been brought in to assist in the removal, the story noted.
According to the story, standard procedures for asbestos removal, including running multiple fans to keep the air throughout the building filtered, have been followed.
The main entrance doors are expected to reopen August 17 after the potentially hazardous ceiling tiles have been removed, the story added.
