Thursday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: I have an apartment complex to clean. It’s 368,000 square feet of new construction. I need to know what the going square-foot rates are in Raleigh, NC, for cleaning; this includes windows.
The answer:
We have no way of knowing!
Follow this reasoning: At a production rate of 1,500 square feet per hour, this size project will take 245 man-hours. Ten cleaners will need 24.5 hours each (three eight-hour days) to do the job.
If your labor payout is $9 per hour, you will be looking at a cost of $2,205 in base labor. Add another 20 percent or so for labor-related expenses (workers'' comp, Social Security, etc.) and you are up to $2,700. Add in your supply ...Lynn E. Krafft, ICAN/ATEX associate editor, lekrafft@juno.com
