The Foundation will award a $2,500 scholarship to each of the four "Newell Rubbermaid Scholars" as part of a month-long fundraising campaign to benefit Clark Atlanta University, the release stated.
The students who will receive the scholarships based on their academic excellence and community involvement are: Jessica Bailey, a senior from Hercules, California, majoring in psychology; Terri Abney, a sophomore from Woodbridge, Virginia, majoring in theatre arts; Tanza Bibbs, a freshman from College Park, Georgia, majoring in business administration; and Latasha Cardwell from Easton, Pennsylvania, majoring in accounting, the release noted.
Joyner, whose nationally syndicated morning radio show
airs in 115 markets, said: "This is a really good thing. This comes at a time when many companies are cutting back what they can do for the community. Now, Newell Rubbermaid is helping these students complete their education."
Through their corporate philanthropy program, Newell Rubbermaid has contributed to more than 100 nonprofit organizations during the past year, the release added.
