VANCOUVER, WA — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) announces the formation of the Consensus Body Standard Committee for the S600 Carpet Installation Standard and Reference Guide, according to a press release.
According to the release, the committee, co-chaired by James Mullins of Shaw Industries Inc. and Barry Costa of Aspire Educational Institute, is responsible for drafting the carpet installation standard.
The 22-member consensus body will meet approximately four times per year, with most of the work being done online and via conference calls; the first in-person meeting took place October 12-13 in Atlanta, the release stated.
The IICRC is still looking for industry volunteers for working chapter committees, and all of those who submitted a written application for the consensus body but are not part of the consensus body are invited to be part of a working chapter committee, the release noted.
The new standard for carpet installation, which has a timeline for completion of 36 months, is being sponsored by the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) and the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI), the release added.
Applications should be submitted to Committee Chair James Mullins or Vice Chair Barry Costa or by contacting IICRC headquarters at 1-360-693-5675.
