KNOXVILLE, TN — The Knoxville Tourism Alliance Housekeeping Championship took place yesterday, and after all was cleaned and folded, the competition saw a repeat winner, according to WVLT-TV.
The competition took place downtown at the Knoxville Convention Exhibition Center and was designed to let members of the local lodging industry let loose while having fun, the story stated.
The defending team, housekeepers from the Hilton Garden Inn, successfully conquered the competition and was declared the winner for the second consecutive year, the story noted.
According to the story, students from the hospitality and lodging programs at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Pellissippi State Community College functioned as umpires for the competition.
The competition, made up of eight unusual events that incorporate many items used daily by housekeepers, consisted of games like the "Luggin'' Laundry" obstacle course and "The Invasion of the Commode Snatchers," a basketball-like contest using a roll of toilet paper as the ball and a toilet seat as the hoop, the story added.
