SEATTLE — The janitor at Les Schwab Tires is accused of stealing roughly $70,000 worth of tires from his employer, according to KING-TV.
The unnamed janitor supposedly stole 700 tires, with values ranging from $60 to $200 apiece, over a year-and-a-half period, the story stated.
According to the story, the tires tended to go missing in sets of four.
Managers installed hidden surveillance cameras on October 20 and, as one manager put it, "four hours, 15 minutes later, we watched the guy come in and steal eight tires," the story noted.
The investigation came to fruition when store employees noticed that "User 9, " the code corresponding to their contracted janitor, was arming and disarming the alarms at an unusual frequency, even on days he wasn''t scheduled to work, the story added.
According to the article, since Les Schwab Tires stopped contacting the janitorial service the accused individual is employed with in late October, no other tires have gone missing.
