According to the release, the 14 winners of the 31-year-old awards, chosen by an independent judging panel consisting of industry designers, journalists and experts, were announced during the NAUMD Annual Banquet and Awards dinner and represent achievement in the design, creation and manufacture of imagewear apparel.
The 14 categories include the casinos, hotels, restaurants, retail stores, cruises, transportation, sports facilities and general service industries, the release stated.
The 2010 winning uniform companies are Unisync, Cintas, Superior Uniform Group, Omega Frontline, The Walt Disney Company, G&K Services, Apparel Solutions and Brookhurst Inc., with Cintas topping the list with four awards and G&K Services receiving the Special Recognition award, the release noted.
Richard Lerman, president and CEO of the NAUMD, said: "The IOY awards recognize progressive and leading businesses in several key industries. This year''s winners are a dynamic group of companies who have created a competitive edge in their business by placing a strong focus on the image of their staff. As markets become increasingly competitive, imagewear can make a truly significant difference between a customer retained and a customer lost."
Winners demonstrate employee apparel programs that combine function and fashion to help customers identify employees, extend the company''s branding and improve safety and employee morale, the release added.
