James P. Quinn, who tenants claim is unapologetic over the conditions they are living in, is being sued over cockroach and bedbug infestations, a broken elevator and other building maintenance issues that have not been addressed, the story stated.
According to the story, Quinn, who has been named in dozens of lawsuits dating back to 1996, always blames the complaints on his "troublemaking tenants" and fails to take responsibility for the condition of his five-story, 24-unit building, the story noted.
Quinn said: "There is nothing wrong with this building. This is a game being played by the tenants. They are just deadbeats who are getting evicted. I don''t know what you are getting so excited about."
San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera has filed suit against Quinn on behalf of 11 tenants; the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection and the San Francisco Department of Public Health have filed more than a dozen notices of violation and orders of abatement, the story added.
According to the article, some of Quinn''s tenants, who live in supposed decrepit conditions, pay upwards of $1,200 per month in rent.
