MOUND, MN – This Thursday, members of a Minnesota police department are holding a benefit for a cleaning lady who has fell on hard times recently, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
According to the article, 68-year-old Evelyn Bruce''s medical bills are rapidly growing because she has a heart condition and her husband has a terminal illness.
In addition, continued the article, Bruce''s son recently passed away from bone cancer and her daughter was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig''s disease.
Bruce has cleaned the public safety building, which houses the police and fire departments, in Mound, Minnesota, for the past two years.
Mound Police Department officers hope the benefit — a silent auction, with items that include jewelry and autographed Minnesota Vikings football jerseys and Minnesota Twins baseballs — will help Bruce pay her bills, concluded the article.
