Jordan, who has been with Edgewood City Schools since 1991, is more than a custodian at Bloomfield Elementary School, as she is quick to help students in need of lunch money, solace or a kind smile, the story stated.
According to the story, the Employee of the Year award came as a complete surprise to Jordan.
Jordan said: "I couldn''t believe it. I don''t know what I did to deserve it, but I''m very appreciative. The principals, the teachers and all the staff here make it so easy for me to come here every morning. They are all so kind to me and have never treated me as less than they are because of what I do. I know I am biased, but Bloomfield''s staff is the best."
Jordan was presented with the Employee of the Year award on Monday and the festivities included a birthday celebration for the "fun-loving, mother-type figure" custodian whose birthday was May 4, the story noted.
Many Bloomfield Elementary School staff and students dressed in red in honor of Jordan''s favorite team, the Ohio State University Buckeyes, the story added.
