CINCINNATI, OH — Proctor & Gamble Co. (P&G) on Wednesday introduced its "Supplier Environmental Sustainability Scorecard," which it will use to rate its suppliers on their ''green'' efforts, according to the Business Courier of Cincinnati.
The company hopes the scorecard, which encourages continuous improvement by suppliers, will become an industry standard, the article noted.
The scorecard was developed over 18 months by a board that included more than 20 representatives from P&G''s primary suppliers. It will measure and rate energy use, water use, waste disposal and greenhouse gas emissions on a year-to-year basis, the article stated.
The first phase of the scorecard rollout will involve key suppliers, with future phases being determined by those results, P&G said.
