Wednesday''s Ask the Experts question from a cleaning professional on the International Custodial Advisors Network (ICAN) "Ask the Experts" page: We are bidding on a job to remove a year of finish build up (coated approximately every 5-6 weeks) and then refinished with 5 coats. The store will be open during the stripping and finishing, (owners will not close). Can you give us an idea of an approximate charge and the time it would take with a 3 man crew?
The answer:
Your numbers show a possibility of 15 or more coats of finish in the last year. I would recommend you perform a test strip in a small area first. Determine if there is a permanent seal under all those coats of floor finish. From this, you will see if it takes 2 or 3 strip outs.
